Happy 5th of July

It's 6:00, and M and I are up. And let me tell you, it was tough to get up. It's not that we stayed up late last night -- the usual, until about 10 or 10:30, but last night was different. Since it was the 4th of July, we let N stay up late and watch fireworks that people in the neighborhood set off. We brought her in for bed a little after 9:00, but until then, she had a blast, playing with a few neighborhood kids, throwing 'pops' down at the ground, and pulling the strings on 'poppers' that shot out confetti. Of course, dear old dad specialized in clean up, but it was all in great fun. We capped the evening off with an ice cream bar. And, as of 6:12 this morning, N is still asleep -- she's about an hour behind her normal routine. But ... M was right on and is currently destroying the toy room all by herself.

No, I didn't take this picture, but "etoile" did.
