The Fires

Unbelievable. It's hard to imagine the helplessness that the people of southern California must feel. I learned today that a co-worker of mine has a sister who last lost her home to the fires, among hundreds of others. The fires are always expected about this time of year, but every so often, the fires get out of control - at least that's what my co-worker told me. At least you know they're coming, but what would be worse, knowing they're coming or getting caught by surprise?
